All the pre-game essentials such as stretching, napping, fueling up, putting your best shirt and tie and driving to the rink make a common routine for any hockey player on game day. From a young age, they are thought the right habits to perfect the sport they love. Indeed, presenting yourself properly which includes dressing well is part of the learning process for a young hockey player. Indeed, if you are going to an important interview for work, you will dress accordingly. The same concept applies to hockey. Peyton Parker and Katie Carpenter are very familiar with this ideology. The 2 entrepreneurs combined their passions for sports and fashion to found THE LCKY.
THE LCKY is an elite Canadian brand that offers prestigious and exclusive neckties. Their unique collection is designed to meet all fashion needs for any occasion and/or any profession. THE LCKY launched in December 2016 by two Canadian female business graduates.
Being familiar with the male hockey routine, Katie and Peyton have always had an interest in aiding their partner in assembling their game day attire. Thus, allowing them to design their very first line of neckties “The Official Lady Luck Collection”. Each necktie has the signature Queen of Hearts logo representing the lady luck each necktie withholds. Each is named after a professional athlete who represents THE LCKY. The athletes aid in the final style and design of the tie they represent. They have witnessed many players who wear their ties to every game as they truly feel it brings them luck.
The co-founders and co-owners of the company are Peyton Parker (Ottawa, ON) and Katie Carpenter (Montreal, QC). Two very accomplished women. Peyton attended the University of Western Ontario on a hockey scholarship while pursuing a business management degree. She was, in fact, the first female to play Jr.B hockey for the Almonte Thunder in the EOJHL. Her ability to keep up with the boys led her to a hockey scholarship to the University of Western Ontario. In her first year, she won the program’s first CIS National Championship. On the other hand, Katie attended the University of New Brunswick and graduated on Dean’s list with a bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in marketing with an E-Commerce minor. The two women aspired to create a company that would put their business degrees to good use while utilizing their connections within the sports industry.
Both Peyton and Katie have been with professional athletes in the NHL: Ryan Spooner of the Boston Bruins and Nathan Beaulieu of the Montreal Canadiens. Therefore, they were quite familiar with the hockey world. They met each other at the 2016 Winter Classic (“When the Habs kicked Boston’s ass” – Katie) and decided to utilize one another’s skill sets and team up to great something unique. Thus, creating THE LCKY.
