Alice Philbert, the talented goaltender from St-Bruno-de-Montarville, has carved an impressive and inspiring path in the world of hockey. After a stellar university career with the Concordia Stingers, she crossed the Atlantic to play a season with the men's team in France. This unique adventure with the Lions of Wasquehal in France's Division 3 was marked by challenges and triumphs, showcasing Alice's exceptional determination and talent.
Impressive Beginnings with the Concordia Stingers
Alice Philbert first made her mark with the Concordia Stingers, where she spent five years, plus an additional year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time, she maintained an average of less than 1.65 goals per game and a save percentage of nearly 0.930. Her exceptional performance peaked in 2021-2022 when she led her team to victory in the USports championship, conceding no goals in three games at the Canadian Championships in Prince Edward Island, and recording seven shutouts in her last ten games. The following year, she helped her team secure a silver medal after an overtime loss, solidifying her reputation as an elite goaltender.
A Season in France with the Lions of Wasquehal
After her university career, Alice was approached by a representative of the French Hockey Federation, who, after speaking with her coaches at the Stingers, offered her the opportunity to join the French national team with the potential to participate in the next Olympic Games. To be eligible, Alice needed to spend two years in France. She joined the Lions of Wasquehal, a men's Division 3 team, where she quickly proved her worth by becoming the number one goaltender.
Her journey in France was not without its challenges. Alice began the season by playing and training with the U20 men's team to get enough ice time. Despite these challenges, she excelled, especially during the playoffs, where she faced over 60 shots per game. Her performance was praised by fans, and she quickly became a crowd favorite in Wasquehal.
A Special Connection with Paramount Hockey
Alice Philbert also made a significant impact at Paramount Hockey. It was thanks to her that Olivier, the coach and founder, joined the Concordia Stingers in 2021. Alice introduced Olivier to coaches Julie Chu and Caroline Ouellette, and this collaboration was a great success. Since then, Olivier has held the position of goaltending coach for the Stingers, and Alice participates as a coach at Paramount Hockey's summer camps. This fruitful partnership has opened many opportunities for Olivier, Paramount Hockey and many other coaches.
An Exemplary Family
Behind every exceptional athlete, there is often a supportive and loving family. For Alice, her mother Véronique and father Guy have always been there to encourage and support her throughout her career. Their unwavering support has played a crucial role in developing Alice's radiant personality. Her sister Léonie, a star defenseman for the Stingers, also shares this passion for hockey, adding a familial dimension to this beautiful adventure.
Congratulations on a Remarkable Season
Alice Philbert continues to inspire us with her talent, determination, and dedication. Her remarkable season in France and her past exploits with the Concordia Stingers are a testament to her exceptional caliber. We are proud of her and look forward to seeing what the future holds. Congratulations, Alice, on another outstanding season. We are all proud of you!
